FITNESS MARATHONS

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE:

Collect funds from participants who participate in fitness marathons (running marathon, spinning marathon, dance/zumba marathon,...). Additionally, sponsors of event might contribute to fund collection as well.

TIME / DATE / GOAL:

Fitness marathons have no time frame. Duration (2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours,...) of the marathon and frequency can be freely chosen by the organizer. The initiative usually comes from a sports addict organizing the marathon to collect money for a specific cause. A unique participant fee is asked from all participants. The organizer might also search for sponsors (fitness related suppliers such as fitness drinks, food, equipment, etc.)

AUDIENCE:

The participants of the marathons can be members of a fitness club, school pupils, inhabitants of a specific city, employees of an organization, etc.

RESOURCES / BUDGET / COSTS:

The event itself takes place either in a fitness club, any other kind of sports facility or outside. The costs are usually limited to: location of a venue, promotion material (posters, entrance tickets, t-shirts, publications, ...) and drink/food supplies.

LEADERSHIP:

Organizer of the marathon might have to delegate certain tasks to colleagues and/or friends.

VENUE / LOCATION:

The venue might be the fitness club or school sports hall of the organizer (in which case there are no additional costs for the venue). However in some cases a sports facility needs to be rented. This can be done via city government or private instances. In case the event takes place outside, one needs to make sure if permission from the city where the event is hosted is required.

PROMOTION / COMMUNICATION / MARKETING:

The event (date, time, location) needs to be communicated to participants. This can be done via posters, internet, social media, publication,... When sponsors are involved, the communication strategy might be larger, depending on the marketing budget.

FOLLOWUP / THANK YOU / FEEDBACK:

Post event communication to all participants, sponsors and public is a must. Total amount donated to charity can be formalized via an official cheque handover (with press involved if possible).
